Bassam is a Film Festival Founder, Motivational Teacher & Everest Climber

I had the opportunity to meet Bassam through Mikey because they co-founded the Nomading Film Festival together with two other friends and also because apparently they are brothers from another mother. Pretty sweet! I dove into Bassam’s story a little bit and I was totally hooked, the guy has done so many great things that it would take more than a simple paper-interview to discover them all. From reaching Everest Base Camp to meeting Fidel Castro, playing golf at St Andrews to working on reactors at Pearl Harbor, Bassam is certainly one of the most adventurous guys I’ve came across in my life. Don’t wait another minute and discover a piece of his story now! You can also connect with Bassam on Twitter @BassamTarazi or on his online home

Kevin is a French Storyteller, Ethical Fashion Advocate & Foolish Adventurer

Life is made of unexpected moments. Meeting with Kevin at a Starbucks coffee in Central Paris was one of them.

Passionate, dreamer, humble and simple, he isn’t your typical business school graduate. Holstee admirer, Seth Godin reader, firm believer and traveler at heart, he isn’t your typical French guy. Because it’s rare to meet people hoping to make the world a better place, I always feel privileged when I get to meet one.

I could start Kevin’s story by telling you that he just graduated from a well-known business school, lives in Paris, enjoys fashion or that he is moving to Berlin in the fall.  I could continue by saying that he likes biking on the roads of South of France, was born in Paris but grew up in Lyon, doesn’t like the business school spirit or only sleeps few hours per night. Ben is a British Expat, Online Marketer & Risks Taker

I’ve lived in England for 5 years and I can’t believe I only met Ben when I was back in France. Life is funny sometimes, it seems that you always meet people you want to get to know better when they are about to leave or when you’ve already left the place. Fortunately for us, Internet and social media have opened doors that used to be closed before. So even if I didn’t get the chance to meet Ben while I was living in his country, I get the opportunity now. His story deeply resonated with mine and I hope it will with you too. You can connect with Ben on his online home or Twitter @benjaminspall

As I write this I’m sitting in the shadow of the Alhambra, a fourteenth century Moorish palace in my newly adopted home of Granada, Spain. How did I get here? I embraced my uncomfort zone, or rather, I became comfortable with being uncomfortable. Read more »

This is War

It’s been more than a year that I’ve discovered this community of wicked people doing awesome stuff and that has literally changed my life. They’ve helped me to change path and chase my dreams, something I would have never imagined just a year ago.

In my old life, I was missing happiness, serenity and certainty; my new life is full of them. In my old life, I was running after people who weren’t on the same page; my new life is full of like-minded people. In my old life, I was eating cheesecakes at my desk Monday to Friday; my new life is full of healthy smoothies and swimming.

I look back and I wonder how I made it here. Read more »

John is an American Biker, Writer & soon-to-be Business Intern in Asia

John is one of the first guys I talked to when I discovered this whole community of location independent people and I was surprised how comfortable I was talking to a stranger. We had the same dream, the same struggles, the same looking-for-directions feeling and the same motivation to make it happen. We’ve been supporting each other during our journey and I couldn’t be happier to share his story today. I believe John will be your next best friend, so don’t wait and visit his online garage or chat with him on Twitter @JohnKDeVries

Who is John ?

I think some people spend too much time trying to figure out who they are (instead of just being who and what they are). I was once at a Toastmasters (public speakers’ club) and one girl said, “I want to become a master of life.” I think that pretty much sums up who I want to be; I’m not there, and I don’t think I ever will be. It’s always going to be a work-in-progress. Read more »

Mikey is a Travel Addict, Bold Actor & Social Entrepreneur

“Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them.” – Holstee Manifesto

I guess you could say that’s exactly what happened when I randomly discovered Mikey, or the other way around actually. I woke up one morning to find out that he had written an article about me. Seriously, I was so stocked that it took me few minutes to really realize! Coming from nowhere, this American guy that I’ve never met or talked to was writing about me, about my story, about my dream, about a French girl living in England who just quit her job in the hope of creating a better life for herself. For so long, I’ve felt like I was transparent by living in my own world, crazy for believing in my wildest dreams and awkward for thinking differently. By sharing my story, Mikey showed me that I wasn’t alone, that I was part of something bigger, that someone cared. He made the wheels turn.

Because you don’t get to meet people like Mikey very often, I’m honored to share his heartfelt story with you…

Who is Mikey Kavalus exactly ?

Mikey Kavalus is a fire-starter and renaissance man who can’t fit in a definitive shoebox and finds himself equally at home on the road less traveled, a deserted beach or an open dance floor. If you really want to know who he is, you should travel with him. Adventure is inevitable. Read more »

How would you describe yourself?

The Myer-Briggs Type Indicator suggests that I have an ENFP personality and the philosophy of Feng Shui defines me as Golden Cheetah: in other words, I envisage things from a big picture perspective, I love taking initiatives and I do it with passion. More concretely, I am a French guy in love with marketing, entrepreneurship and eCommerce. When I am not blogging or reading motivational books, I love running, cooking and photographing. Oh, and now I am a Globetrotter. Read more »

Maria is a Language Teacher, Shyness Warrior & Spanish Native

Some people are born with that self confidence who make them feel they can achieve everything, some aren’t. For so long I’ve been in that second category, believing that I wasn’t good enough for anything or anyone. When I met Maria, I instantly felt that we were the same kind of person, the one that has to fight every day to have a voice and exist. Shyness is like an invisible cage that we’ve built around us, it’s what often leads to loneliness and anxiety but it also leads to courage and doing incredible things, things that even confident people don’t do. For all the shy people out there, this story is for you. Connect with Maria on Twitter @DianadeBelflor or visit her blog to get to know her better. Want to learn Spanish? Maria got you covered, check out her online courses !

If I had to use just one word to define myself I would choose “teacher” without any hesitation because my whole vital story gravitates all around it.

Since I was little, I didn’t want to be a singer or a model but a teacher: maths, literature, languages… it didn’t matter as long as I could teach. I had a lot of obstacles to overcome. You would think that teaching isn’t such a difficult career but my severe speak-in-public panic complicates the story and gives it another dimension. Read more »

Jona is an Unconventional, Blue Hair & Icelandic Girl

It’s not often that you meet someone who doesn’t like parties and is screaming it out loud on a blog, well Jona has nothing to hide and is willing to expose her secrets on her sweet-pinky online home. Being a non-drinker and non-smoker, I’m not a big fan of parties either and would surely trade them for watching the Star Wars saga in my pj’s, so Jona is definitely the sort of person I want in my circle! Her story is one of a kind and I’m sure that some people will recognize themselves in it. Want to get to know Jona more? Connect with her on Twitter @girlyjona

I get to just rant about myself? What an awesome project!

Better take advantage…

My story, much like myself, is very introverted. There are outside components, break-ins, break-ups, and a whole lot of travel, but I let other people tell those stories. The true story of me is one that contains no other characters.

To use the fairy-tale format: this story starts with a little girl. Read more »

Vulnerable

I met Adrian around 4 years ago while I was traveling in Australia, he was a close friend of my boyfriend Luke at the time. I remember the day where Luke took me to Perth to meet a part of his family and his crew, I was a bit anxious and was hoping they all would like me, the little Frenchy coming  from a fareway land. Fortunately for me, I think this was the case.

Adrian was one of his best friends and the first day we met, we instantly became friends. He loved Europe, his girlfriend was half French and he had the same vision of life as me, so it seemed like we were a perfect friendship–fit. Because Luke was more interested in playing at Wold of Warcraft with his friends than spending the days visiting Perth with me (I know, so sad…), Adrian ended up taking care of me while I was there. Without him, I would have been lost in a fareway land by myself. Read more »
